Outpost sends automated report emails to your configured Report Recipients so you don’t have to log in every day to check performance. Report emails include data not shown on the Outpost Dashboard, such as CTA performance by slot, gated PDF stats, and per-email retention funnel metrics.

When reports are sent

ReportSchedule
DailySent during the 1AM-2AM hour in your site’s timezone (covers the previous day)
WeeklyEvery Monday at 6 AM UTC (covers the previous 8 days, computed in your site’s timezone)
Both daily and weekly reports use the same format and sections — the only difference is the time period covered. Reports are only sent when there is activity to report on.

Report sections

Each report email contains up to 12 sections. Sections only appear when there is relevant data for the period.

General site performance

The opening summary paragraph gives you a high-level snapshot:
  • New free subscribers — how many new free members signed up
  • New complimentary subscribers — members given complimentary access
  • New paid subscribers — total new paying members, broken down into:
    • Brand-new paid — signed up directly as paid
    • Upgraded from free — existing free members who converted to paid
  • Autoresponder conversions — how many paid signups came from Outpost’s autoresponder emails
  • CTA signups — how many free and paid signups came from Auto Display CTAs
  • Retention saves — subscribers with failed payments who updated their payment info and stayed subscribed
  • Gated PDF signups — free and paid members who signed up to download gated PDFs
  • Tip Jar revenue — total donations and amount received
  • Cancellation saves — annual and monthly subscribers who cancelled but were retained via the autoresponder
  • Monthly renewals — members with monthly subscriptions that auto-renewed
  • Annual renewals — members with annual subscriptions that auto-renewed
  • Reactivations — members who had cancelled auto-renewal but renewed before their subscription ended
  • Ended subscriptions — members whose subscriptions ended without renewing, broken down by cadence (monthly/annual) and reason (voluntary cancellation vs. failed payment)
  • Unsubscribes — members who unsubscribed from all emails
  • Cancellations — members who cancelled auto-renewal, broken down by monthly and annual
  • Net change — the bottom line: net free-and-subscribed, net paid, and net complimentary members for the period

Outpost Actions

A summary of all autoresponder emails sent during the period:
  • Total autoresponder emails sent
  • Broken down into:
    • Welcome Flow emails — new member onboarding sequence
    • Unsubscribe confirmation emails
    • Cancellation confirmation emails

Actions Details

Per-action performance metrics for every autoresponder action that sent emails during the period:
  • Sent — number of emails sent
  • Open rate — percentage of emails opened
  • Click rate — percentage of emails clicked
  • Conversions — number of members who converted (upgraded to paid) from this action

Advanced Flow

If you have Advanced Autoresponder flows active, each flow’s emails are reported individually:
  • Flow name and email number (e.g. “Welcome Series, Email #1”)
  • Sent, Open rate, Click rate, and Conversions for each email

Conversions

A dedicated section showing which actions and CTAs drove paid signups:
  • Per-action conversion counts — which autoresponder actions led to paid subscriptions
  • CTA conversions — how many people joined as paid members through Auto Display CTAs

Donations

If your Tip Jar received donations during the period:
  • Total count and total amount
  • Breakdown by payment provider:
    • Stripe — count and amount
    • PayPal — count and amount

Plausible Page View Statistics

If Plausible Analytics is connected:
  • Last 24 hours — yesterday’s total page views
  • Last 7 days — weekly page view total

Custom Integration events

If you have custom integrations configured that generate events (e.g. Supercast subscribe/unsubscribe events), those events are listed here.

CTA

Signups driven by your Auto Display CTAs:
  • Total signups through CTAs during the period
  • Signups by slot — breakdown by CTA placement (e.g., In-Post Slot 1, Popup Slot, Footer Slot — actual slot titles depend on what you’ve configured)

Outpost Retention

Performance of the Failed Payment Flow:
  • Members who entered the retention flow (subscribers with failed payments)
  • Per-email stats — for each retention email in the sequence:
    • Number of subscribers who received it
    • Open rate, Click rate, and Conversion rate (members who updated their payment info)
  • Members who did not update — lists the email addresses of subscribers who went through the entire flow without updating their payment info

Gated PDF and E-Book Magnet

If you have gated PDFs active:
  • Total signups from gated PDFs
  • Per-PDF breakdown:
    • Free members who signed up to download
    • Paid members who upgraded or started a paid membership to download
    • Existing members who downloaded

Campaigns

If you have active email campaigns, each campaign is reported with:
  • Sent — number of campaign emails sent
  • Opened — number of emails opened
  • Upgraded to paid — members who became paid subscribers
  • Upgraded to annual — monthly members who switched to annual
  • Donated — members who made a donation
  • Unsubscribed from marketing — members who opted out of marketing emails
  • Unsubscribed from all — members who unsubscribed from all emails

Setting up report emails

Open Report Recipients

Go to Settings → Report Recipients.

Add recipients

Add the email addresses that should receive the reports.

Enable each recipient

Toggle each recipient on or off as needed. Only enabled recipients receive reports.
There’s no limit to the number of recipients. Add team members, editors, or business partners who need visibility into your publication’s performance.

Data only in the report emails

These metrics are not available on the live Outpost Dashboard:
  • CTA performance by slot
  • Gated PDF download stats
  • Retention flow per-email funnel with open/click/conversion rates
  • Email campaign results with upgrade and donation tracking
  • Plausible page view trends
  • Custom integration events
  • Per-action autoresponder open and click rates
  • Advanced flow per-email performance
  • Net member change calculations

Interactive charts for member growth and autoresponder stats.

CTA Performance

Detailed CTA views, signups, and conversion tracking.
