Outpost has three self-serve plans: Space Station, Voyager, and Luna. Two more, Terraform and Enterprise, are service-led, for publications that want hands-on help. Self-serve plans are priced on your total subscriber count, free and paid members combined. For current prices, see the Outpost pricing page. This page covers what each plan includes.

What connecting your theme means

On Space Station, Outpost does not touch your Ghost theme at all. Everything you use runs on Outpost. On Voyager and Luna, Outpost adds a small amount of code to your theme so that CTAs, walls, the Tip Jar, gift subscriptions, and events can appear on your site. The Theme Connect Wizard does that work: you upload your theme, Outpost modifies it, stores it in a GitHub repository it manages for you, and deploys it back to Ghost. The wizard handles the differences between one Ghost theme and the next, so those features work the same way on any theme. The wizard is not a feature you buy on its own. You run it once during onboarding, and again whenever you change or update your theme. See Theme Connect Wizard for the walk-through.

Integrations

Podcast and RSS memberships covers Megaphone, Omny, Podbean, Supercast, Transistor.fm, Dovetail, and YouTube. Ghost, Stripe, Mailgun, and PayPal are core connections rather than integrations, and they work on every plan. A few others, including PBS and Engaging Networks, are arranged case by case. Labs

Labs is where Outpost puts tools that are working but still changing. Homepage Curation also needs your theme’s manifest to declare it, so a Voyager site whose theme has no manifest will not see it. Labs tools can move between plans as they mature. Each feature page shows its current plan requirement.

How subscriber band billing works

Outpost prices each plan in subscriber bands. Your band is set by your total number of subscribers, free and paid combined, and yearly billing saves roughly 17% over monthly. When your subscriber count grows past your current band:

1. Outpost emails you to say you will be moved to the next band
2. Outpost moves you to that band
3. In most cases the price change is prorated, so you only pay the difference for the rest of your billing period

You do not need to do anything, and you always get notice before your billing changes. If your subscriber count drops into a lower band instead, see the pricing FAQ for how that is handled on monthly and yearly plans.

Changing plans

The Outpost team makes plan changes for you, so your account is set up correctly. Click any upgrade prompt in your dashboard to open the Request Upgrade page, or email support@outpost.pub. See Upgrading Your Plan for what happens next.
